1 Overview & Single Purpose
Agent OS ("we", "our", or "the extension") is an AI-powered browser automation and web productivity assistant designed to help users perform web browsing tasks, form filling, data extraction, and content synthesis directly within Google Chrome.
Our single, focused purpose is to execute user-instructed browser actions (such as searching, summarizing articles, and filling web forms) autonomously in an interactive side panel while putting user privacy and security first.
2 Chrome Permissions & How They Are Used
Agent OS follows the principle of least privilege. Every permission requested in our extension manifest is strictly required for the extension's core functionality:

Used solely to dispatch browser actions (clicking, typing, scrolling, and capturing visual step screenshots) via the standard Chrome DevTools Protocol to fulfill your explicit automation requests. It never monitors background activities outside of user-initiated tasks.
activeTab & tabsTab Navigation
Allows the extension to read the URL and title of the active tab you are working on, and navigate to target web pages when executing a multi-step task you assigned.
scriptingHelper Scripts
Used to inject local helper scripts (such as page readability extractors and image extraction utilities) into the active web page when you request content extraction.
storageLocal Preferences
Used to store your configuration preferences, customized agent prompts, and optional user-provided AI provider API keys locally on your device via chrome.storage.local.
sidePanelUser Interface
Provides the interactive side-by-side user interface in Chrome where you submit instructions, view execution steps, and review output reports.

Agent OS is a general-purpose automation agent that operates across websites you specify in your instructions. Host permissions allow the agent to navigate and interact with the target websites required by your tasks.
3 Data Handling & AI Processing
Here is how information is processed when using Agent OS:
User Prompts: Text instructions you enter into the chat interface are processed to determine browser planning steps.
Web Page Content: When executing a task, visible text or elements from the active tab may be analyzed by the AI model to understand buttons, links, and forms needed to fulfill your request.
AI Model Communications: AI requests are sent via secure HTTPS to the designated LLM provider (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or OpenRouter). If you input your own API key, communications go directly using your key credentials.
No Silent Background Monitoring: The extension only inspects web page elements while a task is actively running. When idle, no page scanning or data collection occurs.
4 Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure
Strict Limited Use Adherence
Agent OS adheres to the Google Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
We do not sell user data to third parties under any circumstances.
We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the core functionality of providing browser automation.
We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
We do not use or transfer user data for personalized advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking.
5 Data Storage, Retention & Deletion
All sensitive information, including API keys and custom prompt templates, is stored strictly on your local computer via Chrome's sandboxed extension storage. We do not maintain any central database of your browsing activity, passwords, or personal credentials.
How to delete your data: You can wipe all stored data at any time by resetting settings within the extension's side panel or by uninstalling the extension from chrome://extensions, which immediately deletes all locally stored data.
